Dance in elementary schools

Students will identify the value of dance in the elementary setting, including the following benefits:

Dance methodology

Students will demonstrate sound dance methodology, including:

· Teaching structured dance forms

· Leading the creative process

· Clear verbalization of directions, cues, side-coaching, and feedback

Teaching resouces

Students will identify various dance teaching resources that enrich the curriculum, including:

· State Core Curriculum

· National Standards

· Music resources

Dance knowledge and skills

Students will increase knowledge and develop skills in the dance discipline, including:

· The elements of dance: space, motion, time, energy

· Problem solving through movement

· Choreographic skills

Age appropriate materials and pedagogy

Students will identify age appropriate material and pedagogy that address the needs of the wide age span of elementary students.

Incorporate dance into school projects

Students will identify ways to incorporate dance into school-wide projects that create community, including dance festivals and performances.
